I wont lie, this event has me salivating, for all the right reasons.
Who are ROSA?
ROSA is an apt acronym for a such a kind and caring group of writers. The Romance Writers of South Africa have groups in every major city in South Africa and provide much needed support and development to our countries romance writers.
An amazing line-up of speakers
The two-day conference taking place over the 24 and 25th of September is brimming with local and international talent. The keynote speaker for the event is none other than New York Times best-selling author Mary Jo Putney.
On Saturday 24th the event will focus on Afrikaans authors and publishers featuring home-grown talent such as Didi Potgieter, and Afrikaans editors Marlies Haupt of Lapa Uitgewers and Carolyn Meads of NB Uitgewers.
For those wanting to dip your toes in self-publishing waters, boy do we have some beautiful speakers to keep you company. Popular local ladies include Carlyle Labuschagne, Joanne MacGregor and Erika Bester of Firequill Publishing
To bring some balance to the host of beautiful women presenting at the conference I will be showing my face at both a panel discussion and workshop on the Sunday. My role at ROSA Con will be to help authors understand the beauty of self-publishing your novel on Amazon.
ROSA has made every effort to make this a worthwhile event for every serious author, even those who might not specifically write in the genre. Other guest speakers who will be wooing attendee’s ears are Rae Rivers, Joss Wood and RITA nominated Romy Sommer.
Pitch to international literary agents
Those lucky people attending ROSA Con 2016 will have the opportunity to pitch their unpublished manuscripts live via Skype to international editors and literary agents. Editors from HarperImpulse, Boroughs Publishing and Loose ID will take pitches, as will literary agents Louise Fury of The Bent Agency, Elaine Spencer of The Knight Agency, and Veronica Park of Corvosiero Lit.
