Hi Everyone, www.myeBook.co.za will be hosting a slot on Digital Publishing at this up and coming seminar for writers. The event will be held in Randburg, Johannesburg over the weekend of the 4/ 5th October. There is a great line up of experts covering a wide range of topics, it would be great to see you there!
About the Event. Porcupine Press has designed an intensive two-day workshop for people interested in writing and publishing their own books. We have been motivated to arrange this workshop in response to many requests from authors wanting to know how to publish, present and market their book successfully. All too often, authors are so keen to have their book published that they fail to understand all the implications of self-publishing ‒ or they simply do not know where to go to have a book professionally produced, marketed and distributed. Workshop participants will be given the necessary tools and insight to become a self-published author. The workshop will cover the complete publishing process from writing, to editing, to production, to distribution, as well as the marketing options available for finished titles. I attended the Jozi Book Fair this past weekend (http://www.jozibookfair.org.za/) The book fair took place in Doorfontein Johannesburg and was the brainchild of Dr. Maria van Driel, a person with long history of advancing the struggle for literacy in South Africa.
I must say I was absolutely blown away by the people I met at the event, ranging from small publishers to authors who wanted to publish for the first time and even a the deputy minister of small business, Elizabeth Thabethe! I found that the publishing houses were very interested in Digital Publishing message I was sharing and wanted to know how eBooks could lift their established print business.
